The project reimagines the island not simply as the setting for a cultural building, but as a continuous public landscape where park, performance, and everyday urban life come together. Rather than separating the building from its surroundings, paths, terraces, lawns, and gathering spaces extend across the site and converge around the cultural centre, allowing the island to operate as a civic destination throughout the day.
At the heart of the proposal is a large amphitheatre conceived as a flexible performance space. An operable roof allows the venue to shift between enclosed and open-air configurations, enabling evening concerts and outdoor events to become part of the life of the park. The building envelope follows the same ambition for openness: a permeable façade filters light and views, softening the boundary between the auditorium, surrounding landscape, and public spaces.
The project therefore operates simultaneously at the scale of architecture and landscape, using the cultural centre as an anchor for a wider park system rather than as an isolated object. Monumental structural elements give the building a clear civic presence, while its transparency and surrounding public realm keep it connected to the life of the island.
