Studio

A practice shaped by context, negotiation and precision.

We approach each project by identifying the forces that should shape it: programme, context, structure, climate, movement and use. Architectural form is then allowed to emerge from their relationship.

Vision

We understand architecture as a discipline of translation: giving material form to forces that are, in themselves, immaterial. For us, that translation happens through negotiation, between what a site already carries and what a project asks of it, until nothing in the result is arbitrary.

A site arrives already in motion. It carries forces that predate any design intention: water, wind, sun, topography, and the traces left by previous use. We treat these as equal parties to the flows a project generates internally: people, product, air, light. Neither is allowed to silently govern the other. The mass, then, is not a container built for a program, nor a form draped over a site. It is what remains once that negotiation has actually taken place.

Precision, in this sense, is not a technical virtue but an ethical one: a way of ensuring that every decision can be traced back to the condition that demanded it.

A building is never finished the way a sentence is finished. It continues to be shaped by use, by weather, and by a life we cannot fully anticipate. To design well is to accept that incompleteness in advance, and to build in a way that can absorb it.

Kerem C. Akın

Kerem C. Akın

Founding Partner · Architect M.Arch / SIA

Kerem founded the studio in 2010, holding a Master of Architecture from SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and a studio exchange with Zaha Hadid's studio in Vienna. An earlier career leading software development teams at The Walt Disney Company and Vodafone shaped a practice built on precision, process, and close attention to how people actually use space. He now leads the studio's work from concept to construction, across industrial, civic, and residential projects in Türkiye, the United States, and Switzerland.
