Studio

A practice built around design, precision and continuity.

We approach each project by identifying the forces that should shape it — programme, context, structure, climate, movement and use — and allowing architectural form to emerge from their relationship.

Vision

We understand architecture as a discipline of translation — the act of giving material form to forces that are, in themselves, immaterial.

A process, a rhythm, a topology, a memory: none of these arrive as form. Our practice begins in the space before drawing, where a project's true subject is identified — not its program, but its logic — and asks what architecture would look like if it emerged from that logic alone, rather than being applied to it from outside.

This is not a search for style but for necessity. We are drawn to projects where the boundary between structure and skin, between interior and landscape, between what is built and what is inherited, can be dissolved and redrawn — where architecture behaves less like an object placed in the world and more like a continuous act of negotiation with it. Precision, in this sense, is not a technical virtue but an ethical one: a way of ensuring that nothing in the final form is arbitrary, that every decision can be traced back to the condition that demanded it.

We hold this against an equally deliberate skepticism toward permanence. A building is never finished in the way a sentence is finished — it continues to be shaped by use, by weather, by the slow accumulation of a life we cannot fully anticipate. To design well is to accept this incompleteness in advance, and to build in a way that can absorb it.

Partners

Kerem C. Akın

Kerem C. Akın

Founding Partner

Kerem founded the studio in 2010, holding a Master of Architecture from SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and a studio exchange with Zaha Hadid's studio in Vienna. An earlier career leading software development teams at The Walt Disney Company and Vodafone shaped a practice built on precision, process, and close attention to how people actually use space. He now leads the studio's work from concept to construction, across industrial, civic, and residential projects in Türkiye, the United States, and Switzerland.

Bengisu Topanoğlu

Bengisu Topanoğlu

Partner

Bengisu joined the studio in 2016, graduating with honors from a dual major in Architecture and Interior Architecture at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2017. After working across the studio's international projects, she became partner in 2022. She now leads concept development and design across the studio's ongoing work in cities in Türkiye and abroad. Alongside her professional work, she continues her academic studies in Architectural Design at Istanbul Technical University.
